To reinforce our teams and ensure the smooth running of the event, many volunteers are mobilized every year to help organize the Dinard British & Irish Film Festival.

We’re looking for motivated and available volunteers from September 23 to 27 and/or October 2 to 6 to join us and make this 35th edition a great success!

The jobs on offer in detail:
  • 1 – Multi-purpose assistance to the organization team:
    – This mission takes place in the run-up to the festival, and the team can be involved in various aspects of preparation:
    – Distribution of communication materials: posters and programs to retailers in Dinard and surrounding towns.
    – Preparation of team and guest badges.
    – Preparation of invitation cards, guest bags, volunteer envelopes, etc.
  • 2 – School Festival Welcome:
    – The pre-festival volunteer position involves being present at the School Festival (September 23 to 27).
    -Welcoming teachers and students in the auditorium during screenings and workshops, placing them in the auditorium according to predefined plans, filling out the class -attendance form.
    – Information desk: Welcome and guide teachers and students to the festival, and answer any questions they may have.
  • 3 – Festival Welcome Desk:
    – Key point of contact for visitors arriving at the Palais des Arts.
    – Greet visitors on arrival and answer questions about the festival, events and screening times.
    – Press reception – Hand out accreditations to guests, partners and other VIPs.
    – Front desk volunteers must be friendly and knowledgeable about festival events. They must also be able to carry out their duties in a constantly changing environment, and must be organized and able to perform under pressure during the busiest hours.
  • 4 – Indoor reception:
    – Greet festival-goers in the auditorium during sessions.
    – Check tickets and direct spectators in the auditorium.
    – During special screenings: sticker the jury seats, small set-up as required.
    – During screenings of films in competition: organize distribution of voting coupons and check that the audience deposits its voting coupon in the ballot box at the exit.
    – For masterclasses and workshops: prepare the room (furniture, water bottles, microphones, etc.).
    – Tidy up room at end of sessions.
    – Answer visitors’ questions about the films or the festival in general.
    – Monitor the screening room during the film to make sure everything is running smoothly and to help visitors who need assistance.
    – Front of house volunteers need to be patient, organized and have excellent communication skills to help visitors get the most out of the festival. This mission takes place at various Festival venues: Palais des Arts et du Festival, Auditorium Bouttet, Emeraude Cinéma, etc.
  • 5 – Ticketing :
    – Sale and distribution of tickets for film screenings and festival events.
    – Welcome and inform festival-goers about screenings and events.
    – Resolve ticketing or payment problems for visitors It is important for this mission to be organized, punctual and welcoming.
  • 6 – Shop :
    – Set up products in the boutique.
    – Welcome visitors to the boutique and help them find the items they are looking for.
    – Assist visitors with their purchases and process payment transactions.
    – Ensure that the boutique is well-maintained, clean and tidy.
    – Answer visitors’ questions about products and festival events.
    – Help manage inventory by tracking stock levels and sales.
    – Boutique volunteers must be welcoming, polite and professional when interacting with boutique visitors.
  • 7 – Hostess for special events:
    – The team takes part in various festival events (cocktails, official dinners, opening ceremonies, etc.).
    – Upstream preparation: setting up areas (drinks, glasses, POS displays, etc.)
    – Welcoming guests on arrival, checking invitation cards or guest lists and guiding them to their table or seat.
    – Checkroom duties (depending on event)
    – Answer guests’ questions about festival events or the location of facilities.
    – Help coordinate events in close collaboration with organizers and other volunteers.
    – Tidy up at the end of the event
    – Host/hostess volunteers must be welcoming, polite and discreet people who can work effectively with event guests. In some cases, they may be required to serve beverages to guests, so it’s important to have a good knowledge of serving protocols and be able to respect alcohol regulations.
  • 8 – Drivers :
    – Drive guests, jury members and organizing team safely from one location to another.
    – Be on time to pick up and drop off passengers at agreed locations.
    – Provide courteous and professional service to passengers.
    – Keep the car clean and well maintained (cars are provided by our partner).
    – This position includes long-distance travel (Rennes, Nantes, etc.).
    – Volunteer drivers must be experienced and reliable drivers who can drive safely on local roads. They must have a good knowledge of the city and its roads to find -destinations quickly. Volunteer drivers must be polite, courteous and professional with passengers, even in difficult traffic conditions. They must also follow agreed schedules. Finally, it is important that volunteer drivers are prepared to maintain the car in good condition, and to report any problems or damage to the car as soon as they are noticed.
  •  9 – Photographer: (To be available during the festival as well as the school festival (September 23 to 27).
    – Take photos of the festival, events and visitors to document and promote the festival
    – Take photos of the festival atmosphere – Take reportage-type photos (street entertainment in the city, partner businesses, the public in the following locations: red carpet, hall, etc.).
    – Photograph volunteers and staff.
    – Volunteer photographers must be creative, experienced photographers with a good knowledge of photography techniques. They must be prepared to work closely with – festival organizers and other volunteers to ensure complete photographic coverage of the festival. Volunteer photographers must be available throughout the festival and be able to work under pressure in a hectic environment.
  • 10 – Translator :
    Assist film teams during presentations of their films, including question-and-answer sessions with the audience.
    Translate speeches, interviews and film team presentations in real time for festival visitors who do not speak the same language.Translate official speeches for overtitling during ceremonies.
    Volunteer translators must be highly skilled in languages, with the ability to understand and communicate with people from different cultures. They must be able to operate under pressure, and be comfortable speaking in public.
  • 11 – Communication :
    Support for the production of the leaflet/newsletter in conjunction with the Festival’s communications department.
